Once again as I was browsing through horse pictures, my memories take me back to the plains near Cody, Wyoming and I came across this amazing stallion. I sat in my office chair staring at it, probably for 10 minutes or more.
I thought about his life. No one is there to brush him. There's no water trough for him to quench his thirst, no bails of hay to satisfy his hunger. It's just him and the wild.
People often ask me to take pictures of their horses, and they talk so lovingly about their personalities and how much they care for them. Photos of horses on farms are beautiful, and they evoke all the emotions that come from the bond between humans and animals.
But this... this is so different. To me, this picture captures the true rawness and beauty of the wildness of the horses of McCullough Peaks. This mane is not groomed, and this horse is not loved by a human - except those of us who love and admire from afar. I hope it speaks to you the way it does to me!
