This photograph was taken in McCullough Peaks, Wyoming, where the wind is constant and the horses wear it like a second skin. The mane tells the story before anything else. Long, tangled, and shaped by weather and time, it reflects a life lived entirely outdoors.
What I love about this moment is the balance between strength and calm. The horse stands grounded, alert, and unbothered, letting the wind move through its mane and across the open range behind it. Nothing about this scene is controlled. The horse chose where to stand. The light showed up just long enough.
